local and “off-cycle”

I know its been a while.  I’m not going to promise to write more because I thats what eveyone does on blogs right before they stop writing forever.  Instead, I’ll try to post some quick remarks every so often.

On Monday I started my internship with Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems in Andover, MA.  Being local, I can still commute from my current apartment.  This means I can still hang out with my classmates this semester socially without working on homework late every night.  Tonight, for example, I was able to play in our intramural basketball game for the Sloanie rainmakers (I made it rain 3-3 from deep) and tomorrow intramural hockey.

I chose to work local and off-cycle (Feb-Aug) simply because I have a good idea of where I want to work (Boston), but no idea what I actually want to do.  Thus, I wanted to be around for recruiting and also be in the area in case I want to start informational interviews or whatever or even just relax in the sun for a few weeks before class in August.
